Plumas County Correctional Facility Breaks Ground

The ground has broken on the construction of the new Plumas County Correctional facility. The jail has been a long time in the making spanning back to the years when Hagwood was the sheriff. In 2017 Plumas County received a state grant of $25 million to build the new jail yet setbacks delayed the construction and now the county has had to scale back the size of the jail due to material costs and supply shortages. Construction is anticipated to last a year and a half. The site is located next to the old facility on Abernathy Lane in East Quincy. Sheriff Johns is hopeful that it will be ready for use by the summer of 2024.
