The County has just released it’s draft budget for the 2024-2025 year.

Highlights of the report indicate that Property tax remains the largest component of general-purpose revenues, with a basic tax rate of 1% of the assessed value under Proposition 13. The county receives approximately 20% of all property tax revenues, with the remainder supporting local schools, the City of Portola, and special districts. These funds support a wide variety of county programs.

The county administration also noted in the budget that despite the devastating Dixie Fire, which began on July 13, 2021, burning 963,309 acres and destroying 551 structures, reducing the assessment roll by $466,926, the county’s roll still increased from 2021 to 2022 due to other sales and new construction.

The 502-page budget document is available for review on the county’s website.
