Plumas and BLM Forests Ease Fire Restrictions, Lassen Ntl Forest Extends

SHARE NOW

Fire restrictions have eased in both The Plumas National Forest and on BLM public lands while the Lassen National Park extends fire restrictions into the end of the month.

On the Plumas Ntl Forest fire restrictions have been lowered to stage one allowing campfires in designated recreation sites inside fire rings. On public lands of Applegate and Eagle Lake field offices, in Lassen, Modoc, and Plumas counties restrictions have ended. Yet you will need to have a free campfire permit to build a campfire outside of developed campgrounds with year-found fire restrictions remaining in place. Those require you to have a five-foot diameter area of bare soil that is free of overhead flammable material before a campfire is made. You are also required to have a round-point shovel with a handle at least 35-inches-long nearby.

You can visit or call the Applegate or eagle lake field offices for more information.

Yet on the Lassen National Forest, acting supervisor Russell Nickerson has extended the restrictions due to the worsening threat to human life, property, and resources. In efforts to continue to protect these values, the restrictions will be temporary through October 31st when the FS expects the hazardous conditions to be reduced.
