Expect delays along 89 as Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) resumes work this week to underground nearly 8 miles of power lines between Canyon Dam and north Greenville. The project was stopped due to winter weather but will now continue until June. PG&E had already completed 2.8 miles of undergrounding along Highway 89 from Canyon Dam south.
Underground work will also start on Williams Valley Road and Hillside Drive in Greenville.
While work is ongoing, you can plan on one-way traffic controls with delays of up to 15 minutes during your weekly daily commute between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m. Overnight delays can be expected to be up to 45 minutes starting at 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. then for your weekends plan for extended delays 24 hours a day. You can call PG&E’s Customer Rebuild Line for questions about road impacts at 800-254-5810.
About 60 miles of power lines will be undergrounded in Plumas County once the project is completed.
PG&E plans to underground other areas in western Plumas County later this year, including along Highway 70, starting sometime after the highway reopens.
