As the Gold Complex Fire impacted those in Eastern Plumas and Sierra counties, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) is stepping up to help those hardest hit. With the fire disrupting lives and threatening communities, PG&E is rolling out a suite of support programs aimed at easing the burden on residents and small businesses navigating the road to recovery.
The utility company is providing relief through its disaster billing and credit policy, which includes stopping billing for properties unoccupied or destroyed due to the fire, suspending disconnections for non-payment, and waiving related fees. Customers can also benefit from flexible payment arrangements, accelerated requests for reconnection, and waived security deposits for up to one year.
PG&E is also offering additional programs for income-eligible customers, such as the California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE) and Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA), which provide discounts on utility bills. Other options include the Energy Savings Assistance Program for no-cost home improvements, and the Low Income Energy
Assistance Program (LIHEAP), which offers up to $1,000 for past due bills.
PG&E’s support aims to provide financial relief and resources to help those affected by the Gold Complex Fire as they work through the recovery process.
