A skilled nursing facility will benefit Plumas County by 2025. The Plumas District Hospital Board of Directors will apply for a 31.2 million dollar USDA loan to fund the nearly 40 million dollar project. The concept building will host 36 beds in a 22,000 square foot facility on Bucks Lake Road just southwest of the current hospital. The goal is to create a home-like atmosphere as said by Chief Operating Officer Darren Beatty. Currently loved ones from the hospital have had to be relocated several hours away where it is observed that their quality and quantity of life decline. By June of this year the design-build contract will be awarded with construction beginning in the summer of 2024.
