A Publishers Clearing House scam is spreading throughout Susanville and the Police Department is urging you to not fall victim. Calls have come in around the city and county that a scammer is claiming you have won a prize when you answer and begin to ask for your banking information to send a payment for a processing fee. The department says that should always be a red flag. Per the Publishing Clearing House website, they do not authorize calls to prize winners, and that all winning is free. If you believe you are being scammed you can fill out a Scam Incident Report found on the PCH Fraud Protection Page on their website.
