The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans District 2) and Hat Creek Construction & Materials, Inc. are preparing to begin work on the Likely Overlay Project on U.S. 395 in Modoc County. The $2.6 project will provide a thin hot mix asphalt overlay with isolated areas of concrete dig outs on U.S. 395 near Likely, from the Modoc/Lassen County Line to 0.8 mile north of County Road 189. The project will also include shoulder work, areas of guardrail removal/replacement, along with the removal/replacement of thermoplastic markings and striping.

Construction activities are currently planned to start on Monday, September 8. Motorists will encounter one-way traffic control with up to 14-minute delays, Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Motorists are urged to slow down and drive carefully in and around construction areas, follow speed limit reductions in place, and allot extra time for delays. The project is currently anticipated to be completed by mid-October.
