If you are traveling along California State Route 299 near Buckhorn Summit may notice ongoing activity related to a slide area just east of the summit.
According to Caltrans District 2 officials, geotechnical teams continue to assess conditions at the Buckhorn Slide site and are working to develop a plan for permanent repairs. At this time, no significant changes have been reported, and the roadway remains open and considered safe for the traveling public.
Drivers may see coned-off or restricted sections near the affected area. Officials say these closures are in place to protect both motorists and work crews and are asking the public to avoid entering any closed zones.
No timeline for permanent repairs has been announced. Transportation officials say they appreciate the public’s patience as work continues toward a long-term solution.
