The North Valley Community Foundation awarded five grants last month totaling $7,000 for food pantries that operate in Butte, Glenn, Tehama, Colusa and Plumas counties.
The grants come from NVCF’s Food Insecurity Relief Fund, which helps replenish food pantries in the foundation’s five-county service area.
Grants of $1,500 were issued to pantries run by New Life Assembly of God in Corning; North Valley Community Food Bank, which serves Tehama, Colusa and Glenn counties; the Community Assistance Network in Plumas County; and Taylor Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Southside Oroville. Nourishing Newborns in Plumas County was given a grant of $1,000.
The first grant from the fund was $20,000 to the North State Food Bank. Plumas County is part of its service area.
Organizations with existing food pantries in Butte, Glenn, Colusa, Tehama and Plumas counties can apply for grants of between $500 and $1,500.
Grant guidelines, an application and the option to donate to the fund are available at nvcf.org/food-insecurity-relief.
