In a ceremony at the Lassen Superior Courthouse Thursday, Presiding Judge Nareau swore in John McGarva as Lassen County’s next Sheriff-Coroner.
Judge Nareau said, “It’s a new era in Lassen County,” emphasizing his confidence that McGarva will carry on the same integrity as the Sheriff that came before him, Dean Growdon, who was in yesterday’s audience.
The courtroom was filled to the brim with family, friends, county department heads, and many city and county law enforcement members.
McGarva carries a long history in Lassen County law enforcement beginning his career at the age of 16 through the Sheriff Office’s explorer program.
At city hall earlier this week, Interim Police Chief Michael Bollinger was sworn in as Ssuanville’s first Public Safety Chief. The room was also filled with friends, family, and those within the law enforcement community applauding the Chief’s new role. Bollinger has served the community in both capacities, as a firefighter and a police officer, since 1989.
