It’s that time again for local officers to be equipped with the best and latest safety equipment. Probation Chief officer Jennifer Branning has worked diligently to get local departments Public Safety Equipment that will allow the Sheriffs, Police, and Probation all to be on the same line of Safety when assisting one another.
The transfer of $422,000 comes out of the community budget within the departments. The officers’ equipment is outdated, first purchased in 2007 with upgrades in 2013. The life expectancy of tasers in task forces is typically around 7-10 years.
The new safety equipment obtained with the allocation will include tasers, education for officers to become trainers, software equipment, and chargers.
The old equipment will be recycled, and some will be stored for backup use.
