New Dine Around Town Program Aims to Provide Seniors with Meals

A new senior dining service will launch following the Thanksgiving holiday in Susanville. The senior nutrition program, called Dine Around Town, provided through the PSA 2 Area Agency on Aging and in partnership with Lumberjack’s restaurant will give seniors vouchers to redeem for healthy meals.

This comes on the heels of the senior service’s meals on wheels program losing funding and no longer delivering much-needed meals to seniors in the community. Through the program any Lassen County senior over 60 can participate once registered. Home delivery of meals is being developed through the program, and Public health is looking for volunteers to pick up the meals. At this time, transportation is unavailable through the program, yet Lassen Rural bus does offer senior discounts for rides.

The pilot senior dining vouchers aim to benefit seniors with accessibility to nutritional meals, socialization opportunities, and reduced food insecurities. To enroll, you can contact the PSA 2 area agency on Aging at 842-1687.
