A multi-family home on North Roop street in Susanville caught fire early this morning, just before 6 am. Susanville Fire Department responded with mutual assistance from CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit, California Correctional Center, and Lassen County OES.
At arrival, fire crews found the home completely engulfed in flames. Thankfully the family living in the house was able to escape without injury.
Smoke remained thick into the late morning hours as firefighters continued to put out the flames. They were even combatting frigid temperatures that dipped into the teens, freezing water to equipment and elsewhere.
The fire is under investigation by Susanville Fire Department.
The family’s post on social media shared that they are searching for their dog, Bandit. Bandit is a Chihuahua mix with long hair. If you see Bandit, you can reach his owner at 509.688.5315.
Financial donations to the family can be made by Venmo, search for @alejandro-Leon-99.
