Lassen County Sheriffs’ office says Monday’s high-speed chase began when deputies recognized the suspects as being wanted in connection for numerous burglaries in south county.

While driving through Milford on 395 the patrolling deputies saw the familiar faces of Billie and Kyle Keck, known to be driving with a suspended liscence, and wanted for an outstanding felony warrant. As the deputies made an attempt to pull the suspects over, the kecks began speeding along 395 at reckless speeds exceeding 100 mph, and even forcing others off the roadway.

The chase quickly stopped when Keck made a sharp turn in the sagebrush on BLM lands to evade the pursuing deputies, who, through quick action called in additional support to set up a perimeter. Sheriff’s deputies and chp units along with a CHP helicopter assisted with the search as the keck’s had abandoned their vehicle and set it afire, sparking a ½ acre brush fire, that got knocked down by Doyle Fire and other mutual aid agencies.

Shortly after deputies received a tip, the kecks were seen running near Pickens Road, where they were both located hiding in the brush not less than 2 miles from their vehicle. Both are booked into the Lassen County jail facing multiple charges including felony arson, evading arrest, drug possession, and burglary.
