The Modoc-Washoe Experimental Stewardship Program Steering Committee is set to address various issues related to the management of public forests and rangelands during a field tour and meeting next month in Alturas and Cedarville.
On November 8, the committee will gather at the Modoc National Forest Headquarters in Alturas at 9 a.m. for a day-long field tour focusing on timber management issues.
The following day, November 9, the committee will reconvene at the Surprise Valley Community Church hall in Cedarville, starting at 9 a.m. The business meeting, also open to the community, will feature a public comment session at 11 a.m. Those unable to attend in person can participate via Zoom.
To be discussed are reports on wild horse management, a northern California bear management plan, the Modoc National Forest Lassen 15 project, recreational trails in the Warner Mountains, and the impact of clean water requirements on livestock grazing.
The committee will also receive updates from the Bureau of Land Management on sage grouse and riparian land management, as well as a report on grasshopper damage control. Representatives from the BLM and the Modoc National Forest will present reports on agency activities, and committee members will discuss their areas of interest.
