November 6th, The Modoc Sheriff Department had the opportunity to train on the SIDNE (Simulated Impaired Driving Experience) — an incredible educational tool that helps participants understand the dangers of impaired and distracted driving, including the effects of alcohol, THC, drowsiness, and distractions behind the wheel.
Purchased through the CHP Cannabis Tax Fund Grant, the SIDNE Kart is a hands-on electric kart that provides a safe, realistic way to experience how impairment affects driving skills.
The Modoc Sheriff Department spent the morning in the classroom with the trainer, then cleared the parking lot to put the SIDNE Kart to the test! They were happy to have a few from Alturas CHP, a few students from Modoc High School M-CORPS class, and several of Sheriff’s Office employees for this fun and educational experience.
The Sheriff Department was excited to take the SIDNE Kart out into the community and to upcoming local events — and can’t wait for you to jump in and give it a try!
