Modoc County District Attorney Nina Salerno announced that Brian Widby was arraigned on December 11, 2025, in Modoc County Superior Court on an extensive list of felony charges. The charges include torture, corporal injury to a cohabitant, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, forcible rape, forcible sodomy, forcible oral copulation, sexual penetration by force, sexual battery, child endangerment, criminal threats, dissuading a witness by force or threat, false imprisonment, resisting an executive officer, and attempted murder. Several charges carry special allegations and include multiple counts.
At the arraignment, the court ordered Widby to remain in custody without bail, following the request of District Attorney Salerno, citing the severity of the allegations and concerns for the safety of the victims and the public. Additionally, criminal protective orders were issued on behalf of the victims.
The District Attorney’s Office stressed that these charges are allegations, and Widby is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains under the jurisdiction of Modoc County Superior Court, with further proceedings expected.
