Modoc County Jury Convicts Robbie Barnes of Felony Child Abuse and Misdemeanor Drug Possession

ALTURAS — A Modoc County jury has returned a guilty verdict in the criminal trial of Robbie Barnes, according to a press release from the Modoc County District Attorney’s Office.

The trial, presided over by Judge Harr, was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Richard Cotta.

Jurors found Barnes guilty of felony child abuse, along with a special allegation finding that the victim was vulnerable. On a separate count alleging possession of a controlled substance with a firearm, the jury found Barnes not guilty of the felony charge, but convicted him on a lesser-included misdemeanor count of controlled substance possession.

Pre-sentencing proceedings for Barnes are set for September 21st. District Attorney Nina Salarno expressed gratitude to the jury and law enforcement officers for their efforts in the case.
