As we near Memorial Day, where we remember those who served in our Armed forces and died in service, we take the time to honor thier memory at local cemeteries. This Monday, May 29th, over 300 American flags will create the avenue of flags at Dimond Crest Cemetery with the help of the Susanville American Legion Post 204. As the number of veterans dwindles, help from the community is needed to accomplish the honored tradition.
Volunteers and veterans will meet at 600 a.m to put out the flags and meet again at 3:30 to take them down. All are welcome who would like to help. The flags are not weather resistant Bob Tyndall, Thomas Tucker Post 204 commander, will keep the community posted if rain hinders the setting up of the flags.
For those in Plumas County who wish to participate in Memorial Day events, there will be ample opportunities.
