On March 15, 2026, at approximately 6:26 PM, deputies responded to an animal control related incident around School Street in Crescent Mills. On scene, deputies observed a subject matching the description of an individual with an active warrant arriving on an ATV. The subject, Joe Stockton, 63 years-old of Crescent Mills, was contacted, identified, and taken into custody on the outstanding warrant.
During the arrest, deputies located a loaded revolver on the subject, as well as suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The subject became uncooperative during the search, and an additional charge of resisting a peace officer is being referred to the District Attorney’s Office.
The individual was transported and booked into the Plumas County Jail on multiple charges, including possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
All evidence was collected and submitted, and the case will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review and prosecution.
