The Lost Sierra Food Project announces that registration for its fourth annual summer Farm Camp is set to open March 20 at 4 p.m. and close March 31. Four sessions are available, all held at Rugged Roots Farm, across from Gansner Airfield in Quincy.
- Week 1: June 22 through 26, “Dig, Wiggle, Hop,” ages 4.5 to 10
- Week 2: July 13 through 17, “Beyond the Plate,” ages 4.5 to 10
- Week 3: Aug. 3 through 7, “Farmers Market,” ages 4.5 to 10
- Week 4: Aug. 10 through 14, “Farmers Market,” ages 6 to 12
Organizers said registration will take place via a two-part process. Registration will be available both on a first-come, first-served basis and via a randomized lottery for reserved spots. After families fill out their initial application(s), staff will respond with registration links and confirmation by April 23. LSFP will also keep a running waitlist.
LSFP is offering a sliding-scale payment option:
- Full payment: $225/week
- Half scholarship: $115/week
- Scholarship: $25/week
- Full payment plus donation to the scholarship program: $300/week
In 2025 Farm Camp served 100 kids over the course of four sessions. Organizers report that 30% of campers received scholarships to attend, supported by local donors.
Farm Camp also hosts two high school interns. Organizers say the internship teaches about child care, outdoor education principles and food safety and handling, as well as provides teens with valuable skills and mentorship under farm educator Jessica Ritchey.
