Law enforcement members will take to the streets of Susanville this morning to run for the Special Olympics. The County’s 2nd annual torch run begins at 7 am on the steps of the historic courthouse in uptown, where presenters with the shierffs office, police department, and county probation department will speak before runners take off at 7:30.
The run followed Riverside drive down to the Lassen Superior Courthouse Hall of Justice with officers carrying the “Flame of Hope” torch along the way before it heads down to the 2023 Special Olympics Northern California Games.
Over 3,000 dollars has been raised by the event locally, with over 250,000 raised nationally.
Annually, almost 110,000 law enforcement members carry the “Flame of Hope,” symbolizing courage and celebrating diversity, uniting communities worldwide.
