LMUD Director Resignation Leads to New Appointment and Skedaddle Substation Contracts Approved

The board has announced the resignation of Ward 2 Director Bud Bowden and plans to appoint a new member to complete his term, which ends in January 2027. The appointee must reside in District 2, and the appointment is expected within the next 60 days. For inquiries, contact LMUD at (530) 257-2558.

Additionally, the board unanimously approved the minutes from the April 22 regular meeting and the May 13 special meeting. A contract with Power Engineers for testing and commissioning the Skedaddle Substation was approved for $431,231, along with a $492,888 contract for quality assurance inspection services and construction management. A construction contract worth $5.8 million for the Skedaddle Substation was awarded to Summit Line Construction with a 3-0-1 vote, where Jesse Urionaguena abstained due to a conflict of interest. The board reviewed the Power and Delivery Cost Analysis and decided that rates will remain unchanged.

The board also discussed the results of a recent Customer Survey, provided updates on recruitment and vacancies, reviewed compensation for distributed generation net meter excesses, and received reports from the business manager, general manager, and electric operations manager.

In a closed session, the board conferred with legal counsel regarding existing litigation (LMUD v. William Butler, et al).

Upcoming meetings include a Special Board Meeting/Capital Improvements Budget Workshop on June 5 at 5 p.m., a Special Board Meeting/Budget Workshop on June 19 at 5 p.m., and a Regular Board Meeting on June 24 at 5:30 p.m.
