Lassen Community College’s Fire Technology Program is celebrating the successful completion of 21 students in its recent LCC-Cal Fire Academy in Alturas. These students underwent an intensive 7-week training program designed to meet the requirements for a career as a Cal Fire professional. On March 3, 2023, the students received their certificates.
The students participated in over 300 hours of coursework, demanding physical fitness, and hands-on training exercises throughout the academy. They lived and worked together at the Cal Fire Devils Garden Facility, where they developed the strength, commitment, motivation, and preparedness required to become successful firefighters.
LCC Fire Technology Program has a strong partnership with Cal Fire Lassen Modoc Unit, and all of its previously successful academy students have received job offers. The program is confident that these 21 graduates will soon enter the firefighting workforce.
The Fire Technology Program is inviting aspiring firefighters to join their next LCC-Cal Fire Academy, which will take place on-campus beginning this October.
