With the filing deadline approaching, prospective candidates have only a short time left to enter the race for seats appearing on Lassen County’s June primary ballot.
The Lassen County Elections Office announced that the Nomination Filing and Declaration of Candidacy period for the June 2, 2026 Statewide Direct Primary Election and the special primary for California’s 1st Congressional District is nearing its close.
The filing window, which opened earlier this week, will close at the end of the business day on March 6, 2026, leaving candidates just days to submit the required paperwork to qualify for the ballot.
Officials say the filing period allows individuals seeking public office to formally declare their candidacy and submit nomination documents required to run in the upcoming election.
The June election will include the statewide direct primary along with a special primary contest for the congressional seat representing much of Northern California.
Election officials encourage potential candidates and residents seeking more information to review election timelines and requirements available through the county.
Additional resources, including the 2026 Primary Candidate Guide and election calendars, are available on the elections page of the Lassen County Clerk-Recorder’s Office website.
