At the June 24 meeting, the Lassen Municipal Utility District Board of Directors approved several key contracts for the construction of the Skedaddle Substation in South County. The board’s decisions received a 4-0-1 vote, with Director Charity Moore abstaining.
Key contracts included:
- Western Utility Telecom: A $1.4 million bid was awarded for steel power poles for the Skedaddle 60kV transmission line.
- Summit Line Construction: The board approved a $5.3 million agreement for materials and the erection of the Skedaddle Substation.
In terms of finances, the board passed two significant resolutions:
- Resolution No. 2025-02: This resolution established a $5 million Designated Reserve Account for Power Market Volatility, aimed at stabilizing customer rates in the event of rising purchased power costs.
- Resolution No. 2025-03: This resolution created a $15 million Designated Reserve Account for Special Projects to address depreciation losses and support future capital needs. The general manager will oversee the account’s funding and status.
Additionally, the board approved an updated salary schedule for non-represented management employees, which includes a 2.7 percent salary increase. The 2025/2026 budget was also approved, projected at approximately $30 million.
Other agenda items included the LMUD Scholarship Awards, where two scholarships were awarded to Maddie Lane Johnson and Peter Nielsen, and reports from the business manager, general manager, and electric operations manager.
In a closed session, the board discussed existing litigation and the general manager’s performance evaluation, but no report on actions taken was available by the deadline.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on July 22.
