Lassen Fire Safe Council is so pleased to announce the addition of our newest Board Member, Danny Cluck, now retired from the U.S. Forest Service. We’ve had the pleasure of working with Danny through our grant projects and we have tapped into his expertise to do a presentation at our General Meeting on the dreaded bark beetle that is attacking our forests. He knowledge and expertise will be a great resource and asset to our Board and to our staff. He is a welcome addition to our LFSC Board.

We asked Danny to introduce himself to our community and here’s what he had to say!

I am a former Forest Entomologist (US Forest Service) and forest health specialist with over 30 years of research and management experience in California. My primary role was surveying and monitoring forest conditions, including the impacts of fire, bark beetles and forest pathogens, and developing management strategies to increase forest resiliency. I have worked extensively with forest land managers from multiple agencies and private industry to identify forest health risks and increase the scale and efficacy of thinning and fuels treatments in different forest ecosystems.

During my career, I worked on many projects in northeastern California that improved forest health and protected communities. I also experienced the numerous wildfires in our area that have devastated thousands of acres of forest and resulted in the loss of life and property. This has only highlighted the urgency for more action to protect our properties and increase the resiliency of our forested landscapes. I look forward to continuing that mission with the Lassen Fire Safe Council.

Again, a big welcome aboard and we are all looking forward to an exciting 2026!😍
