Lassen Fire Safe Council will hold its 2nd monthly community meeting this Wednesday. You can take the opportunity to learn more about ongoing and newly completed wildfire restoration projects and share your thoughts.
The council will discuss grant funding and hear from local Fire agencies, CALFIRE, USFS, and the Sierra Nevada Conservancy. During the council’s September meeting, Cade Mohler, managing director, shared that a PG&E Resiliency Grant was expected to close within the next month. The council has begun to assess different types of home hardening projects with the funding.
Deb Bumpus Lassen, National Forest Supervisor, and Tonya Costello from the Eagle Lake Ranger District shared that additional funding has been received for roadside hazard trees and a suppression project to repair 600 acres in the Bogard, Willow Creek & Pine Creek Valley areas.
October’s meeting will be held at the Susan River Fire Protection Office in Johnstonville starting at 5:30 on October 19th.
The council meets every 3rd Wednesday of the month.
