The Lassen Fire Safe Council, Inc., has unveiled the initial LFSC Community Fund recipients. This initiative, fueled by a portion of the PG&E Dixie Fire Settlement monies, fulfills a longstanding objective of the Board. Focusing on bolstering local fire departments and supporting Firewise communities, the LFSC aims to fortify defenses against the devastating impacts of wildfires.
Volunteer fire departments serving Lassen have been identified as the primary beneficiaries in the inaugural round of funding. $2,000 checks will be disbursed to 14 Fire Protection Districts and Volunteer Fire Departments across Big Valley, Adin, Doyle, Stnadish, Milford, and Westwood.
Additionally, Firewise communities preparing for Wildfire Community Preparedness Day events on May 4th will receive support in the form of $500 Visa gift Cards. Recipients include Lake Forest, Clear Creek, Janesville, and others.
Expressing gratitude for these groups’ invaluable contributions, LFSC emphasizes their dedication to safeguarding communities from wildfire risks. Looking ahead, the council intends to evaluate the effectiveness of this funding model in the future, aiming to sustain and enhance fire safety initiatives.
