In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Lassen Family Services is set to host the annual wreath-laying ceremony this week. This event is a solemn tribute to the dedication of law enforcement personnel who have bravely risked their lives to protect victims of domestic crimes.

The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence shares that In 2018, there were over 160,000 domestic violence-related calls to law enforcement, with many other incidents going unreported. Of those, nearly half of the reported incidents involved weapons.

Unified in purpose, Lassen County Sheriff Dean Growdon, Susanville Chief of Police Ryan Cochran, along with other community leaders will come together to honor the memory and service of Deputy Larry Griffith, Officer Robert McElrath, and Deputy Jack Hopkins for their unwavering commitment to eradicating domestic violence within our community.

This year’s poignant ceremony is scheduled for Friday, October 6th, commencing at 10 a.m., and will be held at the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office located on Sheriff Cady Lane in Susanville.
