The Lassen County District Attorney’s Office along with 27 other DA offices across the state have filed for an injunction to stop the CA Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from raising credits for second-strikers. Offenders can have credits reduced based on good behavior that can take time off their sentences. This current emergency regulation allows serious or violent offenders to only serve 1/3 of their sentence. CDCR set this order in place without public input as required by law. The DAs injunction places a temporary hold on the emergency regulation until a hearing is held to validate the merits of the petition.
