After an unexpected hiatus due to the devastating Dixie Fire in 2021, the Lassen County Arts Council is delighted to announce the revival of The Wood & Iron Show. Originally opened for a brief week during the summer of 2021, the show faced an immediate shutdown when the historic wildfire swept through Susanville, impacting air quality and triggering evacuation zones, including the Arts Council’s own location in Uptown Susanville.
Faced with these challenges, the Council made the tough decision to close the show and safeguard the artworks by relocating them to a secure location. Unfortunately, conditions did not permit the show to reopen that year, leaving both artists and the community disappointed.
Now, three years later, the Council is bringing back The Wood & Iron Show with renewed vigor. This second iteration not only offers a platform for returning artists to finally share their work with the community but also introduces new pieces and talents, enriching the cultural landscape of Lassen County.
The Arts Council is enthusiastic about providing artists the exposure and community interaction they missed in the initial run, celebrating both the resilience of the arts community and the introduction of fresh creativity in this unique show, debuting May 16th.
