Lassen and Sierra Local Fire Dept. to Benefit from CFF and PG&E Wildfire Safety Grant

Two local Fire departments will benefit from grant funding from the California Fire Foundation (CFF) with the support of The PG&E Corporation Foundation.

The funding went to 49 local fire departments, 17 of which were part of PG&E’s North Valley & Sierra Division, totaling over 200,000 dollars. This is the sixth year these grants have been awarded to help communities bolster their disaster preparedness and response programs.

In Lassen, Little Valley Volunteer Fire Department and Downieville Fire Protection District in Sierra County received over 15,000 dollars each to purchase personal protective equipment and specialized equipment for firefighters.

Joe Wilson, Regional Vice President for PG&E’s North Valley & Sierra Region, said the funding helps combat the state’s growing wildfire threat that has been exacerbated by climate change and is grateful to help fund local fire departments and agencies to make communities better prepared and more resilient.
