Lassen‘s Stones Bengard CSD Fire Department at Eagle Lake and Plumas Search and Rescue are recipients of a grant funded by PG&E to help strengthen their disaster preparedness and response. Both were among 17 other North state Departments to be awarded part of the over 190,000 dollars in Wildfire Safety grants. The California Fire Foundation, with the PG&E Foundation support, granted a total of 66 departments statewide with 730,000 dollars. The Stones Bengard FD will receive over 5600 dollars for specialized firefighting equipment, and Plumas Search and Rescue will receive 10,000 for personal protective equipment. Modoc County’s Alturas City Fire Department and departments in Butte, Glenn, Shasta, Siskiyou, Tehama, Trinity, and Yuba county were among the other awardees. Over the last four years, over 260 fire departments and fire agencies statewide have received a total of 3 million in direct funding through this grant program.
