A scary few moments for residents near the Lake Fire that broke out Monday afternoon just northeast of Levitt Lake off 395 between Standish and Johnstonville. Initial reports had the blaze kicking off in early afternoon around 2ish at around 5 acres in a hay field. Winds quickly drove the fire into a dangerous rate of speed and structures threatened according ot incident command. Quick work and aggressive firefighting stopped forward progress on the fire by around 2:30pm with full containment reported by IFFC. A Dozer line was also completed with the fire size estimated at around 20 acres. Another reminder that fire season is far from finished here in Northeastern California. Be careful and follow all fire restriction rules and guidelines at all times.
