Jr. Fishing Derby to Return Sept. 30th

The countdown is on for the return of the Jr. Fishing Derby hosted by the Lassen Sportsman Club.

This beloved event was postponed when late spring storms and a melting snowpack made river levels and flows in the Susan River too dangerous for young anglers. Yet dedicated to see the derby press on, Wade Workman and the many volunteers who make the event a success each year held off through summer to bring the derby back.

Now only 30 days away, set for Saturday, September 30th, children from 2 to 15 years old can participate in hooking the biggest catch of the day to win the coveted custom-made rod, a tradition of the tournament now in its 34th year. Other prizes up for grabs to the top three winners in each age category include bikes, fishing poles, and tackle boxes.

Registration for theJr. The fishing derby will be held the morning of the event, again on Saturday, September 30th, at Memorial Park.
