Indian Valley Chamber to Consider Temporary Meeting Location in Greenville

Your input is sought in constructing a temporary meeting location on a lot owned by the Indian Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The chamber has proposed erecting a structure at Pine Street, which could serve as a location to hold meetings, and community gatherings, and as a visitor and information center. Options are limited for now as building costs are astronomical and not financially feasible. Yet, the Chamber’s future goal is to have a permanent building on Main or Crescent Street, built with the help of proceeds from the sale of the temporary structure.

A survey has been released to gather your thoughts on how to move forward with a temporary structure, with results being read during the Chamber’s July 10th meeting to influence how the chamber will proceed.

Up for consideration are three options; the first is a 60 x 30 structure with a covered awning, a commercial kitchen, a meeting space, and a visitor center, with a price tag of 150,000 dollars. The second least costly option is two 10 x 12 sheds that will not require permits, one used as a meeting center and the other as storage, costing roughly 30,000 dollars. The final option is two larger sheds, an 18 x 20 and a 10 x 12, used for the same purpose, one as a meeting hall, the other as storage, this doubles the price to 60,000 dollars.

With a tight budget, the chamber is open to other considerations but must adhere to the funds available.

The Chamber says if you are a contractor willing to donate time or a crew, this would help reduce costs, and can reach out to the chamber for more information.

A final decision on how the chamber will proceed with the temporary structure will be made at the July 10th meeting, held at The Valley Grind, Monday, at 6 p.m.
