During the Tuesday meeting of the Board of Supervisors, the supervisors took a significant step by assigning local names to the renovated chambers and conference rooms of the Historic Courthouse.

CAO Richard Egan led the discussion, seeking input from the supervisors regarding the naming of the five conference spaces as the extensive renovation project, totaling over 8.5 million dollars.

In recognition of Senator and Assemblywoman Dahle’s pivotal role in securing the initial 8.5 million dollar grant to initiate the project on the century-old historic building, Chairman Albaugh proposed naming the board’s new chambers after Dahle.

Additionally, the decision was made to name other conference rooms within the courthouse after local figures of influence. For instance, one room will be named after former supervisor Jim Chapman in honor of his dedicated service to the county, which spanned over 40 years on the board. Furthermore, two rooms, the Susan Roop and Peter Lassen rooms, will pay homage to the town’s founders.

However, one room remained without a designated name. Following a brief discussion, the board and CAO Egan resolved to engage with the Susanville Indian Rancheria. They intend to reach out to the Tribal Council to seek their recommendation for the final naming of the room.
