The Lassen National Volcanic Park highway is snow-free just past Loomis Plaza now. If you bike, hike,or want to take your pet on a walk through the park you now have access during the non-motorized spring season. Snow clearing operations usually begin in March and April and continues for about two months before the highway is entirely open. The highway will remain closed to vehicles until the last layer of snow and ice melts and all road preparations are complete. Caltrans district 2 crews have been assisting the park with the road clearance, you can find the exact progress of the snow clearing operations by visiting the national parks website.
