High Speeds Kills One on Highway 44

California Highway Patrol responded on Wednesday, June 28th, evening, to a vehicle collision. The officers arrived on the scene of a 2014 Chevrolet Impala that went off-road and rolled down an embankment on State Route 44 west of SR 36. A witness reported that the driver drove excessively and went off the roadway. Calfire, Semsa, and the Susanville Fire Department arrived and performed lifesaving measurements. The driver, identified as Douglas Strand from Sparks, Nevada, succumbed to his injuries prior to his collision.
