Officials from the City of Susanville, Susanville Indian Rancheria, and Lassen County are looking for your input on the next phase of the Local Area Hazard Mitigation Plan.
An upcoming meeting in June will give you the opportunity to make sure your perspective, concerns, challenges, and expectations are considered and incorporated into the plan.
The purpose of updating the plan is for the local governments to identify and implement actions to reduce or eliminate risks from hazards and threats. This involves a comprehensive planning process to understand hazards, assess current capabilities, and determine appropriate strategies. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) requires these plans to be updated every five years to qualify for Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants. Lassen County’s current plan expired in January, and the goal is to have a new, FEMA-approved plan by the end of the year.
The public meeting will be held virtually on Thursday, June 6th, at 7pm.
