CAL FIRE Lassen Modoc Unit will be conducting a timber understory prescribed burn on Friday, March 27, through March 28, 2026, in the Hamilton Branch area near Lake Almanor.
Smoke will be visible near the communities of Hamilton Branch and Chester, CA, as well as along CA State Route 36 and Highway 147. Prescribed burn signs will be posted along roadways to inform the public. There is no need to call 911 to report these burn operations.
The primary objective of this project is to continue to reduce receptive fuels, helping to prevent ignitions from becoming larger wildfires. This project also supports broader fuel reduction goals in the area, aimed at reducing the impacts of potential future wildfires in the communities of Hamilton Branch and Lake Almanor.
