GPS Strikes Again in Plumas County

SHARE NOW

GPS does it again to an unsuspecting semi-truck driver in Plumas. The driver did not take heed of the SR 70 closure through the Feather River Canyon and got turned around and sought directions from GPS. Quincy CHP says the driver found himself and his truck pinned along the narrow roadway of Old Cromberg road, a non-passable route through the canyon. All ended well as Quincy Tow could pull the semi-free and turn around. Just last winter, drivers trying to avoid multiple highway closures were relying on GPS to reroute them during heavy snowfall. Many were stranded on roads typically closed during winter as they were not plowed. Follow road signage and seek local directions along with your GPS directions to avoid these situations.
