Another round of prescribed burns are underway in the Lassen National Forest, bringing smoke impacts to Fall River Mills and surrounding areas.
Forest officials say burns are on the Hat Creek RD on the Eastside Underburn Units and will be weather-permitted. This is located about 13 miles southeast of Fall River Mills and north of Bainbridge Reservoir.
Expect smoke during initial burn periods, especially in the early morning and late evening as it settles into valleys and low-lying areas. Crews will closely monitor the project areas throughout the week. For information on smoke impacts in your area, visit www.airnow.gov.
These burns are part of a larger initiative of various prescribed fire fuels projects to treat around 3600 acres across all three districts, largely in the Dixie Fire footprint and the Almanor Basin.
In Addition to the Forest Service’s efforts, Calfire is resuming work on the Hamilton Branch Community Fuel Break project. This ongoing work is expected to persist through May.
Fire officals say you will see smoke in the Hamilton Branch and HWY 147 area. They ask that you do not report it.
