🚨 Lassen County of Edcucation warns of SCAM ALERT FOR CHILDCARE PROVIDERS 🚨
The Federal Trade Commission is warning childcare providers about an overpayment scam targeting caregivers through email, text messages, social media, and online caregiving platforms.
Scammers pose as parents seeking childcare, send a check for more than the agreed amount, and then ask for the extra money to be returned. Unfortunately, the check is often fake, leaving providers responsible for the lost funds.
Remember: Never send money back from an overpayment until a check has fully cleared.
