The Lassen-Modoc Adult Education Consortium has announced a free, two-week Adult Education Food Safety Class, to be held at Westwood High School. This hands-on course is designed to equip community members with essential food safety knowledge and practical kitchen skills.

The class will begin with a comprehensive food safety training, leading to a ServSafe Food Handler Card certification. The following weeks will focus on applying these skills, with a special emphasis on learning the basics of water bath canning and pickling.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our community to gain valuable, certified skills at no cost,” said a representative from the Lassen-Modoc Adult Education Consortium. “Whether you’re looking to enhance your professional qualifications or simply want to learn more about safely preparing and preserving food at home, this class has something for everyone.”

The course is scheduled for four sessions, and attendance at all classes is mandatory for completion.

Class will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, August 12th, 13th, 19th, 20th from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Westwood High School.

To enroll, interested individuals should contact Ms. Beal at 1.530.256.2311. Spots are limited and early registration is encouraged.

This class is made possible through funding from the California Adult Education Program, a collaborative effort of the California Department of Education and the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office.
