You can expect to see smoke today from a prescribed burn at Feather River College. FRC students and alumni are assisting CalFire and the other agencies with this project to help reduce the fuels in and around campus. These efforts are a sample of what could come with the addition of the college’s second bachelor’s degree in Ecosystem Restoration and Applied Fire Management. This degree allows students to learn skills necessary to meet critical regional workforce needs related to healthy forest management, prescribed fire, and other techniques to promote healthy forest ecology, as well as restoration of burned forest and riparian ecosystems.
