Fire Restrictions Reduced in Plumas NF

SHARE NOW

The Plumas National Forest reduces fire restrictions as the season changes. The Forest Service and camp hosts have already winterized and closed many sites; a few remain open in the Plumas National Forest.

For Fall recreation, you can continue to visit the remaining sites open, yet expect fewer amenities and lower to no fees. The FS has closed Mill Creek campground on the Mt. Hough ranger district early to replace the restrooms. As winter approaches, bears are becoming very prevalent throughout the forest. You are urged to use the bear boxes provided at the sites.

As of today, fire restrictions have been lowered to stage one as Fire danger has reduced enough to lower the restrictions but not enough to lift them fully. Under Stage I Fire Restrictions, campfires are only allowed at designated recreation sites inside provided fire rings. You can visit the Plumas forest service website for a complete list of open recreation sites.
