The Plumas National Forest has completed burns for the season as soaring temperatures arrive. Public affairs officer, Tamara Schmidt, says burns were successful in Butterfly Valley, on The Big Hill Project on the Beckwourth Ranger District near Cromberg, and on The Feather River Ranger District near Wyandotte Campground.
Smoke was highly visible throughout Quincy and the surrounding areas due to the increase in fuel moisture during the operations, yet there will be no long-term impacts through the holiday weekend, plan on a light smoke haze if traveling along highways 70 and 89.
Forest Service firefighters will continue mopping up, patrolling, and monitoring all three projects for the next several days.
